Hi Kestin..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have done through your question in detail and can very well understand your concern..
1. A painful bump on
hard palate can be due to a blocked duct of minor
salivary gland as well as it can be due to a damaged duct of minor salivary gland causing spillage of saliva into soft tissues and formation of
Mucocele..
It can get irritated by hard foods leading to pain..
2. It can also be a
dental abscess if there is a decayed tooth associated with it..
3. A bony hard swelling can also be a bony torus due to an overgrowth of jaw bone..
You need to
consult a dentist and get clinically evaluated to find the exact cause of the swelling..
1. In case of Mucocele mostly small Mucocele gets resolved itself, you should do concentrated salt water rinses as it helps in shrinkage of the lump..
If it is persistent and increase in size surgical removal can be done..
2. In case of dental abscess treatment of the tooth along with antibiotics and painkillers can help..
3. In case of bony torus surgical removal is the only option..
As for now you can take painkiller like
Ibuprofen to relieve pain and apply Lignocaine Gel over the lump to reduce discomfort...
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards..
