Could Persistent Cough And Post Nasal Drip Be Due To Viral Infection?
I have had what I assume to be a virus since several others at my work have had a similar issue. It is a cold with post-nasal drip & cough. The congestion part lasted about 3 weeks. Now going into the 4th week I still have a lingering dry cough and intermittent (lasting from 2-3 minutes ) heart-burn like symptoms. Should I be concerned or is this just part of the virus?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Viral infection won't be lasting for 3 weeks. It can be due to allergic episode or sinusitis. So it is better to have an examination with ENT specialist to rule out that. Gastric reflux or heart burn also gives such symptoms. Proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole will be helpful for that. Nasal decongestants and anti histamines will be helpful also. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
