Could Pinched Nerve Have Been Caused By A Nerve Infection?

I have suffered greatly from pinched nerve and horrible pain by the buttocks...about 7 weeks now...could not walk without assists and could not roll over at night. Have been going to PT and also to chiropractor ..nothing seemed to helo. I have a infection of upper respitory system as of Friday and started on anti biotics for that...and presto chango...my back feels normal..no spasms, no pain, could I have had an infection of a nerve in my back and if so I wonder why no one found it and questioned it.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

* A pinched nerve will usually present with neurologic symptoms of nerve compression as tingling, numbness over the supplied area, electric burning sensation or others.

* The respiratory infection is not a sequence of nerve compression at buttock or lower spinal cord level.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
