Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I had hair loss for years and I went to my doctor to send me for some lab test . She sent me and ANA test was up . I have no any symptom of lupus. Im worried now and I am supposed to do other teststo see if I have it or not but no symptoms. My question is I have no symptoms so why this test is high?
There are list of causes of positive ANA. Many auto-immune diseases, viruses, can lead to raised levels even possible in healthy individuals too, over age of 65 every 3rd person can have a positive test. As your doctor suggests you this test and he can see you physical findings too.
It’s better you once take his or other hair specialist opinion too. If hair falls in patches then alopecia can be also be the cause. Take antioxidants and vitamins, gooseberry (amla), aloe vera, basil etc., and relieve stress also by yoga and meditation, breathing exercises etc., which are good to prevent autoimmune disorders too.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
