Could Recurring UTI S Be Due To Expired Mirena Coil?
I have had mirena over five years it expired july 21st of last yr and i still haven t had it removed I ve been having more uti s s and for the past few days have been feeling fain hot cloudy vision just heavy all over could this be due to my mirena being expired
You should always get Mirena removed in 2-3 years to avoid complications. Expired Mirena when not removed in time may cause adverse effects like infection, pelvic inflammatory disease, PID or bladder problems. Get the IUD removed and get urinalysis (R/E and C/S) done. If UTI is detected, you will be treated with a course of antibiotics and analgesics.
Take plenty of water and fluids. Avoid using public washrooms. If sexually active, get your partner also should get Urinalysis (R/E and C/S0 done, so that both of you can be treated and chances of recurrence gets reduced.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
