Could Rough Patch Inside The Cheek Indicate Mouth Cancer?
I have rough patch inside my cheek only right side i went to my dentist and also went to rajiv gandhi cancer institute but they all said it is nothing i google too much about mouth cancer because i eat gutkha iam worried too much plz help...i think rough patch is sign of mouth cancer
The rough patch inside cheek doesn't necessarily means cancer . Yes you are right that gutkha can cause oral cancer , but as your dentist and and cancer institute denying the possibility of cancer the it must not be a cancer .
I suspect that the lesion or patch inside your cheek is ' LEUKOPLAKIA ' , which is a harmless lesion and in your case it occur due to irritation of mucosa of cheek because gutkha .
I would suggest you to quit tobacco chewing habit and the patch will go away in few weeks .
But if this patch is left as such and you do not quit tobacco then it can develop into oral cancer .
If it persist even after quitting tobacco or doesn't improve with times then you should consult oral surgeon to rule to causes like cancer or viral infection. Doctor may order biopsy .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
