Could Severe Acid Reflux Be Symptom Of Heart Disease?
my husband is 70 and has had 3 stints over the last 3 years. He is suffering from acid reflux most of the day. He does not have the usual left arm pain or shortness of breath but he is wondering if this could possibly be a symptom of possible heart trouble? Thank you for your attention.
Understanding your concern. as per your query your husband have symptoms of severe acid reflux which has no relation with heart disease. Many a time symptoms of having cardiac problems are similar to acid reflux symptoms. You should not take any risk and should go for EKG to rule out cardiac pathology. Avoid oily and spicy food. Keep at least 2 hours gap between your food and sleeping time (bed time). Take Pantoprazole 40mg empty stomach OD. Start taking proton pump inhibitors. I would advise that you get an upper Gastrointestinal tract endoscopy done to look for the severity of gastritis. You need to reduce the quantity of food taken per meal. while sleeping put two pillows under your head. This all will prevent reflux.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
