Could Severe Pain In Throat, Esophageal Spasms Be Caused By Stomach Virus?

I am fiv foot three. one hundredtwenty five pounds and 33 y/o. About 24 hours ago "I began experiencing severe pain in my throat accompanied by esophogeal spasms. I have never had these symptoms before nor have I ever had GERD or any other digestive problems. My two daughters recently had a stomach virus that caused them some epigastric pain, could my symptoms be caused by the same virus

your symptoms do not sound typical of viral gastroenteritis. it is possible if you have esophageal irritation, spasms could occur. spasms can also occur without illness, if your symptoms persists and are bothersome, you notice food getting stuck, recurrent pain etc, consider seeing gastroenterologist for endoscopy or upper GI to rule out other disorders of motility of esophagus.
