Could Severe Pain, Swelling And Tingling In Hands, Joint Pain, Swollen Fingers Be Just Carpel Tunnel?

My husband is 76 and is experiencing SEVERE PAIN AND SWELLING, and TINGLING in both hands, and especially in his Right. He also has joint pain, and can't sleep due to the pain at night time. His fingers look like swollen sausages, they're so swollen, but previous bloodwork was reported as "normal".... He can't open cans, jars, etc. with his hands, and his overall weakness. His current Rheumatologist has tentatively diagnosed him with just "carpal tunnel!" It's not just carpal tunnel!! Can you offer some guidance while we seek a second opinion?! -- Thank you!

With your history, it is difficult to interpretate. Joint pain and swelling is not a usual feature of carpel tunnel syndrome and numbness in night indicate that it may be carpel tunnel syndrome
I suspect that you have arthritis, please see your rheumatologist again, blood reports may be normal in arthritis, it is a clinical diagnosis
