Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband was given a prescription of amoxicillin to take 4 pills befor dental treatment. He forgot to take it today before deep cleaning. He is sick and weak know I am worried can this be fatal? He did take it once he got home hours after no change in how he feels.....
Hello. Welcome to HCM. This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.
See, amoxicillin prior to dental procedure is given to combat infection. After the procedure also, some antibiotics are given. If he has missed the primary dose, he is still having the later doses. And after the procedures, generally due to anesthesia and other medications, patients tend to feel a bit sick. So you need not worry. Continue the medications prescribed by your dentist. Fatality is very very unlikely, rather you can take it as a no.
Hope this was helpful. Regards
