Could Solid Brown Lump Discharge In Bowels Be Kidney Stones?

My husband age 63 was diagnosed with a 6 by 9 mm kidney stone earlier this week. Tonight he has passed five small pieces that are dark,brown/red. They are solid but spongey. He has no pain and is feeling better. Would these be kidney stones or blood clots (because they are spongy)?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
These may be blood clot because stones are never spongy and stone of size 9mm can never come out with urine.
