Could Sore, Bloated And Painful Abdomen Post An Accident Indicate Internal Bleeding?
Hi, I was in a motorcycle accident yesterday where of the road at around 50 mph and went into a bush, hedge I ve went to a+e where they checked blood pressure twice and felt around my abdomen neck arms etc however today my abdomen is saw and was bloated earlier however that s gone down now, achy all over but my whole abdomen is sore and when I cough or get up Amorim do anything that engages my mid section I feel pain, is this normal or is it a sign of internal bleeding
This is called abdominal contusion and is a crush consequence of abdominal wall. After this kind of vehicle accident a complete examination might be performed, in your case an abdominal CT to exclude internal bleeding and also a complete blood count to see any change. I believe you have been checked by the emergency doctors yesterday.
Sometimes, bleeding can be detectable not at the first examinations. If you had internal bleeding you had been under hemorrhagic shock, a serious situation this that you doesn't seem to have it. Anyway i recommend you going under a CT of the abdomen.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Julinda Maksuti, General Surgeon
