This is very common direct or indirect question: Could sore lumps at the back of tongue be due to infected wisdom tooth?

And my answer is : YES!

The portion of our mouth, the posterior aspect is surrounded by lymphoid tissues just to defend any infective agents, inflammation, tumor etc.. and they often enlarge in size or proliferate intermittently in response to such insults...!

Therefore, I think you got the answer as the tongue itself is full of such lymphoid nodules especially in the posterior aspect!

So stick to saline water gargle and perfect oral hygiene till you see your dentist.
