Hello,

You have a past family history of vascular occlusion. You are also diabetic. Now you have soreness in the lumber region. Diminished blood flow to the spine can cause chronic back pain and back problems. Atherosclerosis can obstruct the four paired lumbar arteries and the middle sacral artery that supply blood to the lumbar spine. The diminished blood flow could result in various back problems. Untreated gradually narrowing of the arteries may complicate to the formation of thrombus and thus medical emergency.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all diagnostic tests (BP and pulse assessment, tissue-oxygen measurements, etc) and imaging (Doppler USG, angiography, MRI/CT) and blood workouts done. To prevent the disease from worsening you are suggested to quit smoking, loose weight, stay physically active, control blood glucose level at all cost, control blood cholesterol and high BP. You will be treated (by medicine or surgery) according to the severity of the pathology detected and your symptoms.

For relief from pain you can take acetaminophen or Naproxen, one SOS when needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
