Could Sores On Tongue And Inner Lip Be Due To Smoking Meth?
Hi, for the last three days/nights, ive been snorting meth. i woke up yesterday morning with terrible sores in my mouth, under my tongue and on the inside of my bottom lip. How can i get rid of this? or how can i ease the pain because I cant eat because its so painful :(
Thanks for your concern . This is very common in continue user of meth . Drugs like meth contain caustic in it along with other chemical . These chemicals cause two things . First the cause extreme dryness of mucosa due rise in body temperature which five rise ti blisters and sores of mouth. . Secondly they irritate the mucosa which also create sore mouth.
I would suggest you to :-
- Immediately stop taking meth .
- Use colgate orabase paste containing benzocaine for pain and irritation .
- Do warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day .
- Take advil (if not allergic) or tylenol for pain and swelling .
If condition persist even after 2-3 then consult oral pathologist for proper diagnosis and to rule out cause like oral herpes . Doctor may prescribe steroid ointment along with anti bacterial or anti viral drugs depending upon the diagnosis.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
