Could Squishing Sound Be Due To Accumulation Of Fluid In Knee?
I fell on my knee about 5 weeks ago during a road race. it is still healing. I tried running on it this week. Ran about 1 mile but it still hurts to run. Whe I bend my knee, I hear a squishing noise. is that fluid in the knee? I injured that same knee last summer, but was able to run about 2-3 weeks after. this has taken longer. It is still a little swollen and I do have a job and I stand most of the time. should I go to the doctor?
Since you have edema ( your knee is swollen ) and you feel noise during bending it, the chances are for knee versament (liquid). It may take weeks to heal completely.
Have you consulted any doctor, or taken any drugs? I would recommend you to go through a MRI of your knee to rule out any possible damage of your knee bones, meniscus or ligaments.
You may try non steroid anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to diminish the edema and glucosamine supplements for joint inflammation and pain. Meanwhile you have to wear the knee bend every day when you walk and do some strengthening exercises for the muscles.
Take care and all the best! DR ERIOL.
