Could Sweating And Fainting Spell Be Related To Previous Head Injury?
Hello, recently I took a flight from sac. to phx. Upon reaching cruising altitude (35k) I suddenly broke into a cold sweat, felt sick, got hot, then blacked out. It was a rough 2/30 hour flight. I did ( earlier this week) hit my head pretty good at work which knocked me down and I saw stars for a bit. Could this have been a factor in what happened to me. I ask because I have a return flight in a few days and do not want to go through this again.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
From what I understand now you are symptom free, do not have other symptoms outside of the flight period. In that case I do not think that the symptoms you've experienced are due to the head injury which you suffered. The most likely explanation is due to the pressure and oxygen concentration changes during the flight which may at times cause symptoms such as headache, lightheadedness, nausea etc. Another explanation could be a panic attack.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
