Could Swelling In Bartholin Gland Be Due To Sexual Intercourse?

Hi I think I have a swollen bartholin gland. I think it may have happened as a result of sexual intercourse, it goes down significantly after intercourse. I noticed it 3 weeks ago. 5 years ago I went to the Dr for the same thing and they said it wasn't a bartholin gland and I was fine. I am 46 still menstruating and not had any other problems in this area. I am an overweight woman married for 25 years in a monogamous relationship. I have taken complete precautions and started bathing several times per day. I am scared to take this to a physician. Thanks

Hello

Bartholin gland secretes lubricating fluid during sexual arousal. Sexual intercourse itself does not causes swelling of Bartholin gland.
Bartholin gland swelling can occur due to obstruction of duct. This may occur due to any infection. This swelling(cyst) is more common in young women who are sexually active.
Any swelling in that area in your age group should be checked by a doctor.
So don't hesitate and consult your doctor for proper evaluation.
