Could Swollen And Discolored Ankle Post A Fall Indicate A Fracture?
Today my husband took a fall, he was stepping of a order picker and misjudged his step, he said right after he felt a warm sensation go through his ankle. He could apply weight but as the day went on it felt worse. He is now home resting his ankle. I have soaked it in epson salt and then wrapped and applied ice pack.. His ankle is now swollen on both side and turning blue and purple.. Do you think it is a fracture or just a sprain, when wrapped he can put weight on it but unwrapped not as much.....
I believe it is just a sprain of the ankle but if you find it possible do an X-ray of the foot. Continue to pot ice compresses and elevate the limb. Have rest and don't use it much. You can use ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory drugs for pain and swelling.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
