Could Swollen Cheek And Face Along With Difficulty In Chewing Indicate Fracture?
I was punched in the jaw very hard and repeatedly in the face, head, and jaw. My cheek and face are swollen, skin is torn in the inside of my mouth, my teeth feel our of place and the pain is constant. I can not chew but can open my mouth more than I could yesterday.Could it be a fracture? Or maybe just the swelling?
As per your complain when you are hit repeatedly on same areas there are chances of fracture of the bone. If you are unable to chew but open your mouth as well as your teeth seems out of place there may be fracture of alveolar portion of jaw bone( that portion of jaw bone which is holding the teeth)..
Due to continues hitting the lacerations and injuries to the soft tissues causes inflammation causing pain and swelling..
Other bones more prone to fracture during a face injury are cheek bones.
I would suggest you to consult an oral surgeon and he will advise you the required x rays and make an appropriate diagnosis and plan up the treatment..
Hope your query is solved..
Thanks and regards..
