Could Swollen Lymph Nodes And Rashes On Neck And Hairline Indicate Pora-virus?

My 12 yr old daughter has a swollen lymp node behind her right ear...then she developed a rash at the base of her neck up into the bottom of her hairline...and now she has another lump that is growing in size. this has been over the course of three weeks...her dr said she might have a pora virus which i cant even find when i google. Its a lace like rash...they put her on a rx antihistamine that is not even working...

hello,

I think the doctor must be telling you about pox or parvovirus infection and not porva virus.

A lymph node swelling and a rash points towards an infection. However, a viral infection is unlikely if it has not resolved in 3 weeks.

most common cause of bilateral lymph node swelling in this age group is head lice, do check for it and get it treated first if present.

the other possibility are infestations like scabies, larva migrans (parasitic infection), scrofuloderma (tuberculosis if prevalent in your country and one side lymph node swelling).

A better opinion is possible if you can send us the photograph of both swellings and rash.

thanks
