Could The Ganglion Cyst On Wrist Be Something Serious?
I have what looks like a ganglion cyst on my wrist but my chiropractor said it feels more like bone. Underneath that, where my wrist and hand join, there is an indentation. It has some pain and I have wrapped it with an ace bandage while doing chores on the weekend. There is also pain in my elbow and shoulder, possibly unrelated. Could this be serious?
Hi and welcome to HCM From your description it may be a ganglioncyst, in which case it does not require immediate treatment and is generally removed only if it causes you discomfort. Since you do have pain in your arm and shoulder, the cyst/swelling may be pressing on nerves in your wrist, and its better to get an X ray or scan to see how big it is and whether it it really is cystic or a bony swelling. Long term it may cause you a lot of discomfort so, i advise you get it checked by an orthopaedician soon.
