Could The Mood Swings Be Due To Vitamin B 12 Deficiency?

Hi there, I ve been battling something for over 9 months now. Have a high ANA (1:160 speckled) which I never had before. Was very, very fatigued for 2.5 months. Was difficult to work 9 hrs because of it. I have stomach distention because my stomach sticks out and I look three months pregnant when that s entirely not possible. I m 5 4, 137 and eat pretty healthy. Stomach tightness and fullness. Doesn t get better or worse w food and no heartburn or IBS. Had diarrhea along w bad months of fatigue. No diarrhea after the fatigue went away. Stool has been off colored for a while. More orange. During fatigue months I experienced severe pain once between my shoulder blades that took my breath away and almost went to ER. That hasn t happened since. I was an athlete for 20 yrs. EKG came back good. 9pgs of bloodwork. No mono, Epstein Barr or any food allergy. Feel pretty much back to normal recently but stomach is still distended and I ve had itching on my anus, have itching on my skin near right side 2 above right pelvic bone and by left lower ribcage, as well as two months ago had blood in stool. Had ct scan done, all organs look good and no tumors. Blood count is normal. For a long time my alcohol tolerance tanked badly and within last two weeks it seems normal again for the first time. I have also experienced not thinking clearly. At times, knowing what I want to say and having a hard time spitting it out. Also mood swings, which honestly I really don t get. I m pretty passive and happy-go-lucky. I was also told I was vitamin d deficient which I wasn t prior to this...illness or whatever it is. I m awaiting a stool test result testing for various parasitic infections and h. Pylori and Candida. Any thoughts? Sorry. It s a lot. I just want my health (and athlete abs back)

Hi,
If you are thinking of Vitamin B12 deficiency it could be. Vit B12 deficiency is known to cause neuropathy, parasthesia, cognitive and behavioral changes. Yes, people with alcohol intake can develop Vit B12 deficiency and also other nutritional abnormalities.
An autoimmune disease due to high ANA could have lead to most of symptoms. As most of your tests are normal, I would suggest you to try muscle strengthening exercises as it could increase also bone density. Try protein, Vit D and calcium supplements along with Vit B12.
Vit B12 injections can be taken for immediate improvement.
Hope you health improves.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
