Could The Stool Turn Green/black Due To Medication For Bladder Infection?

my 3 yr old daughter has a severe bladder infection. she had drops of blood in urine and the doctor put her on a type of ammox antibiotic the blood stopped but now she has green/black grainy poop. I was wondering of it was a normal side affect for the med she s on or what to do about it. I am bringing her in for a ultra sound on her kidneys as soon as they book the appt.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The green/black grainy poop your daughter is having is due to antibiotic used. The stool will get back to normal consistency and color once the antibiotic is stopped.

I suggest to start giving probiotic to your daughter to stabilize her intestinal flora. If no improvement, should consult with her pediatrician.

Wish her fast recovery!
