Yes, thank you. I am a cpap user and I use a nasal mask with a chinstrap to keep my mouth closed. Halfway through the night for the last couple of weeks, I awake coughing and have to take my mask off. Also I've bronchitis that was treated with a z-pac over a month ago and I still don't feel well. Could using m y cpap keep my infection lingering?
Hi, CPAP use usually does not promote the infection. The symptoms you have explained are usually because of the drying effect of CPAP and humidifying options help. You can discus with your doctor regarding this as the types of masks used and humidifying options are numerous. Reflux of acid is another problem in patients using CPAP which can give rise to such symptoms and this has to be evaluated. Use of proton pump inhibitors helps in this problem. Regards
