Could Using Meth In The Past Cause Hole On Tongue With White Patch Around It?

I have a small hole on the right side of my tongue it has some white patch around the hole it looks like i bite the top layer of skin off and it is red and sore i was a meth user too in the past can that affected the tongue as well also im a diabetic and have asthma as well when i eat food it hurts too. Please give me some advice on what to do.

Hi Dear,

understanding your concern.

As per your query you have white sores on tongue and hole on the tongue . Well the white sores you mention in query are probably due to oral thrush or candidiasis . There is no such evidence that meth cause tongue sore or oral thrush , but there are certain factor caused by meth which further can cause such kind of problem. The hole you mention is also due to soreness or burn .

First meth cause xerostomia ( dry mouth ) which further responsible for oral thrush .

It is believed that meth lowers immunity which also give opportunity to diseases like oral thrush to occur .

I would suggest you to to do betadine rinses 2-3 times a day , avoid smoking meth and keep your self hydrate by drinking plenty of water and such on sugar free candy . If condition doesn't get better in 2-3 days then consult oral pathologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antifungal medicine ( fluconazole ) and sucralfate .
