Cured From Staph Infection But Can It Lay Dormant In Body And Come Back Again?

My baby daughter had staph infection on her skin last year. A few days ago she woke up with a mark on her chin which looks just like a cut would but now her cheeks are getting marks on them. Does staph lay dormant in her body and come back at any time or is this unrelated?

Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

Staphylococcus aureus can remain on the body in carriers and it usually stays in nose, throat and hands. This can cause infection if there is a breach in the skin. I suggest you use an antibacterial cream over the wound for protection. If she is showing ooze, redness and gets restless, then you need to get in touch with her doctor for examination of the wound and get appropriate therapy.

Thanks.
