Cut By Broken Glass. Hurts To Put Pressure, Rough Texture. How To Extract Glass Piece?
I was cleaning up broken glass and a piece got stuck under the skin of my hand, the top fold lower than the fingers. I didn't know it at the time, however it still hurts anytime I put pressure on top of the skin. I feel someting rough in the top layer of skin. It is on my right hand and I am right handed. Is there an easy way to extract it, or will it eventually work it's way out.
Hi, thanks for your query. You have not mentioned when exactly did the injury occur, anyways there are two possibilities. Rough top layer of the skin may be a part of the healing process where in fibrosis and scar formation occurs. Other possibility may be some part of glass may be stuck under the skin as you are thinking. In that case it has to be extracted out. I don't suggest to do it yourself or someone's help as manipulating it might lead to infection. You may contact a doctor who can examine and take it out under aseptic conditions. Hope this helps.
