Dad Is 94. Just Had Problem With Rectal Abscess And

Dad is 94. Just had problem with rectal abscess and then could not urinate. Both resolving now. Valsartan was d/c'd dt high creatinine. He is on metoprolol tartrate 25 mg 1/2 tab bid and doc told me to give prn when bp above 150. I gave 75 today and last check about an hour ago bp was 160/61, hr 60. He was just taken off Plavix for excess bleeding diverticulum and has a history of 3 TIAs. Should he not be on a replacement for the valsartan?
