Hi There,
I can understand your concerns regarding the peels. As you have mentioned
Glycolic acid peel so i would concentrate on that.
I think its very safe if a Properly trained dermatologists in peels is advising you regarding this options. so make sure he knows this very well.
secondly you have asked me about the side effects so it depends whether he is performing a superficial or a deep chemical peel.I would tell you some common side effects that i com across
Before someone advises you the peels they should also tell you that we usally put patients on some pre peels creams which improve the results of the peels and reduce the recovery time after the peels so you should discuss that option with your doctor.
1:after applying the peel its very common to have some facial
redness and swelling just like a sun burn but it should be fine within a day or two. 2:complications includes increased swelling, redness and sometimes infection aswel.
3:in rare ocassions one have scarring and some blotchy pigmentations afterwards.
The bottom line is that
chemical peels can be very beneficials if done by the expert and the comlications can be avoided by following the instructions given to you by your doctor.
thanks alot and all the best
