Decaying Area, Teeth Need Clean Up. Should I Get It Recapped?

I have gone to my present dentist for a long time but because of time constraints had to get my teeth cleaned at a new dentist, he showed me shadows under a gold crown and said it was the beginnings of decay and I needed a new crown and said my composite filling should be recapped. Should I be suspicious of him or wonder if my regular dentist is letting this slide? I have no pain or symptoms

Hi
Thanks for asking query.
According to problem which u r telling, yes may be secondary caries is developing there but u have not mentioned whether that tooth was root canal treated or not . you should go and consult to any dentist. Get your x-ray done for that tooth so that u may get confirm for beginning of decay again. And if it is so then u should go for rerestoration and recapped. Maintain oral hygiene and do proper brushing twice a day.

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

If there is decay under the crown,it has to be restored and re-capped.

Get a thorough scaling done.

Use a soft interdental toothbrush as well as dental floss.

Maintain oral hygiene well.

If you suspect your dentist, get a second opinion too.

Further treatment can be planned based on the diagnosis.

Take care.

Hi
Welcome to HCM forum
As per your details, if there is blackening under cap then you shoud restore it otherwise decay will go on and on.
If your dentist asks you for capping of root canal treated tooth then go for it.
As you have not mentioned whether that composite tooth is RCT treated or not.
Take care

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

As per your history posted,It appears that your present dentist made you aware of the prevailing conditions in your mouth.

if you are not satisfied please wait and take these x rays to your old dentist and simply discuss them.if required take another x ray.

This will give you the true picture, whether treatment is required or not, anyways, you do not have any symptoms now.so you can give some time and get it confirmed before starting any procedures.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care.
