Delayed Periods, Tests Show E-coli, On Antibiotics. Intermittent Mild Cramps. Cause ?

Hi doctor,
My wife went for a medical test after noticing a 2days delay in her menstrual cycle. According to the test result she had an E. coli and was placed on anti biotics for 10 days. Her flow which normal flows for 5 days lasted for 6 days( 30th August to 4th September), stopped and On 7th september she started noticing blood spot that stains her underwear with little intermittent mild cramps till today being 12th september . She went to see a medical who recommended for a Ultra Sound Scan. The scan showed an appreciable fluid in the pouch of Douglas. Please what could be the cause of this condition and what is the way out.
