Depression Due To Menopause, Prescribed Avanza, Pristiq, Effexor, Seniquan. Scared, Stiff On Changing Medicine. Solution?
I am suffering from depression which started om 2000 due to menopause. Doctors presecribed me the following medication: Endep, Avanza, Pristiq, seroquel, cipramil, tofranil, effexor and seniquan. The latest I am on now is seniquan and have been on it for 4 weeks and no development. My depression relapsed May 2013. I am scared stiff whenever I change medication. Please help.
A lot of females during the menopausal years develop symptoms of depression like hot flushes, severe anxiety, panic attacks, hopelessness, helplessness, lack of motivation etc. You have taken medicines like ended, avanza, pristiq, ciprail, tofranil, venlafexine etc and there was no improvement. See most of antidepressant start showing their effects in about 4-6 weeks and there is no use in taking the medicines if they are taken for short periods of time. The medicines should be taken for at least 6 months to sustain remission. You had relapse of illness and I would advise you to please visit a Psychiatrist for expert opinion. Medicines like Duloxetine are very useful in such cases.
Hope it helps you, thanks
