Dermatitis On Whole Body. Using Port For Sleeping. Suggestion?
MY mum has a very severe dermititis on her whole body. It seems to get worse at night to the point my my tears her skin apart. She is 78 years old and only uses cream at night. Mum will not go to doctor anymore as she feels the pills he gave her causes her to loose her memory. My concern is her skin is horrible and she uses port and night to get her to sleep.
hi, Thanks for writing to us. Firstly I would always encourage a visit to dermatologist as there are many conditions which could mimic dermatitis at her age. However you may use these suggestions to help her with her skin condition. Use a mild glycerine or colloid oatmeal based soap Use lukevwarm water to bathe. Never use hot water as it rips off moisture Apply moisturiser multiple times in a day. Use a moisturiser with urea and lactic acid Application of a steroid lotion for few days would help in dermatitis Wear cotton clothes As itching is mainly in night. A sedative antihistamine would help her. Hope that helped. Take care
