Developed Staph In Sputum, Sore Lip. Sore Growing. On Zovirax. Sore Painful, Festered. Now Huge Scar. How Can I Prove It Was A Staph Infection?
I was hospitalized and put on total life support for 15 days, I developed staph in my sputum, a sore developed on my lip and it continued to grow for 5 months, the hospital treated it with zovirax the sore became bloody very painful and it festered. Now I have a huge scar and will need skin grafting, I need to know how I can prove it was a staph infection.
Hello. Welcome to healthcare magic Sore over lip which was treated with zovirax could be herpes labialis. Staph infection can be proved using pus culture and sensitivity test and it should be done during active infection. Pus is collected using a sterile cotton swab and sent to microbiology lab where they will culture the bacteria and give you report in three days. Right now as your wound has healed you cannot prove it was staph. Hope this helped Take care
