Deworming. Fever, Viral Gastroenteritis. Urine Showed RBC. Taken Zentel. Will She Feel Better?

hello, my daughter who is 3 years old had taken Zentel to de worm...after 4 hours she had strong fever which persisted for 4 days. Upon hospital visit the doctor diagnosed her fever as a result of viral gastroenteritis. Her urine showed 20 RBC and the doctor recommended us to redo the urine test. We repeated the urine test 5 days post fever (~8 days after giving zental) and the RBC count in urine was found to be 10. Is there a cause of alarm? Could the abnormal RBC count in urine be because of the Zental? Thank you in advance

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

RBC in urine is always abnormal and needs to be investigated furhter. The most possible cause can be urinary tract infection which also explains the fever which your daughter had.

Zental has not been reported to cause presence of blood (RBC) in urine.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.

Regards,
