Suggest Treatment For Viral Gastroenteritis

My youngest son was diagnosed today with viral gastreonititis. My oldest is now showing signs.... fever (38.4), cough and fatigue. He has no spleen. Do I treat him as my youngest or does he need to see a doctor for specific treatment because he has no spleen?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The viral gastroenteritis has to be treated with appropriate medication.
The management of viral gastroenteritis is aimed to control the symptoms and prevent bacterial infections.
In addition, rest, maintenance of hydration and good nutrition is required to as a supportive measure for viral gastroenteritis.
It is quite possible for the viral infection to transmit to other family members or people who come in contact.
The symptoms of fever, cough and fatigue are suggestive of viral infections.
Thus, I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for your elder son and thus start supportive treatment.

Thanks and take care
