Diabetes, Blood Sugar Under Control, Prescribed Galvus50mg, GlimisaveM1. Should I Continue Or Switch To Other?
Hello Doctor, I am 36 and diabetic. My current blood sugar level is under control. My doctor has suggested Galvus 50mg(one) and GlimiSave M1(twice a day) since begining. Is it fine to continue with these or can I switch to some other alternative? Also what is the difference between Glimisave M1 and Glycomet? Can I switch them?

It is good to know that blood sugars are under control. As diabetes is a long term condition and keeping sugars is the priority, it is definitely not a right idea to change / modify the successful combination.
I understand your concern to get off medications as much as possible, but if your sugars are well controlled with it - why you want to change it and risk yourself to the adverse effects of uncontrolled diabetes.
If I were to be your treating physician, I will like you to be on the same combination. Improve your lifestyle and diet. Change of medication would be necessary if your sugars fall below normal or if you develop any side effects to your current medicines.
Glimisave M1 has to active ingredient - glimipride and metformin. Glycomet has only metformin in it. Both these brands are not same; glimisave M1 has added benefits of glimipride. So do not switch them unless suggested by your physician.
