Diabetic. How To Read Sugar Levels?
today I had a doctors appointment he said I am a diabetic I was trying to understand how to read sugar levels and also during the appointment I think he said that I was 79 which was high from my blood results when 50 is the standard ? I think he was referring to my sugars hence the reason he told me I was now a diabetic my query is also is this reversible or will I have to take medication for the rest of my life he has prescribed me metformin tablets and cholesterol tablets

I really dont think that there are any standard values such as 50 and 79. let me tell you standard values acording to american diabetic association.
Normal values- Fasting sugars -80 - 120 mg/dl
Post prandial values - 120 - 180
Any thing more than this needs further investigation such as glycated hemoglobin and needs treatment.
