Diabetic. Use Estrogen Patch. Testosterone Pellet Two Months Ago. Vaginal Discharge. Problem With Vitamins Or Diabetes?
I am a 53 year old woman. I have Type 2 diabetes that is currently not controlled. I just got my A1C test back and I was an 8.9. Additionally I use an estrogen patch and two months ago got a testosterone pellet. For the past 2 months I have had vaginal irritation and the tell tale white curd like discharge daily. My vaginal area is quite sore and therefore sex in not even remotely possible. Is the likely cause the hormones or my diabetes?
Hi, Thanks for the query. The possible causes for your problem are : - Diabetics are more prone for infections. As the blood sugar is not under control, there is more possibility for vaginal infection. Curdy white discharge is usually seen in fungal infection. -Prolonged estrogen usage can lead to erythema of the vaginal area sometimes. So, better to consult gynecologist once and get examined to find out the exact cause of the problem. If there is infection, you can go for vaginal swab culture and sensitivity to find out the causative organism and take treatment accordingly. Controlling the blood sugar levels will help in clearing out the infection. If the cause is found to be the estrogen supplementation, better to stop for few days till the problem decreases with your doctor's advice. Take care.
