Diabetic, Insulin Dependent. What Difference Is There Between A Cyst And A Stone Or Tumor?Could The Problem With Fluid Be Removed By Surgery?
I am a black female, 62 years of age. I am also diabetic, insulin dependent, with full use of only my right lung . The left lung does not function and has not doen so in at least 15 years. I have had sarcadosis in the lung for two years. The sarc, is not active right now but I was diagnosed with fourth stage emphysema in Febuary of this year. Two days ago i was diagnosed with a renal cyst on my right kidney as well as pericardial effusion . My question is what difference is there between a cyst and a stone or tumor and does the fact that both have fluid as part of the problem have any bearing on metasticies in the future? Could the problem with fluid be removed by surgery? Thank you for your reply. A confused patient. Patricia A. Wilkins
Hi, Thanks for using health care magic. As for as your problem and quires concern cyst means a fluid filled cavity which is lined by epithelium, the collected fluid may be serous ,bloody, thick mucoid depending on the cause for that cyst. The cysts may be single or multiple or they are present on the surface of the kidney or in the substance of the kidney. Stone means an hard substance which is developed either deposition of the calcium or uric acid or the mixture of both which is usually present in renal pelvis or calyx or in ureter which occurs due to improper excretion of these substances. Tumor means an abnormal growth of the normal tissue of the body which is either may be benign (not serious and curable) or malignant ( serious one and may or may not be curable) To diagnose the cyst u have to undergo ultrasonograpy or ultra sound guided biopsy to find out the cause for that cyst . thank you
