HellO, SIR/MADAM One of our patient showing presence of starch in the stool iodine mount .what are all the clinical conditions associated with this. we are not come to the diagnosis as RFT,LFT, Hb %-11gm, serum protein-2gm etc. he was known dibetc on treatment.he was on ATT also Kindly giv your valuable suggestions Dr.Sharada

Presence of starch in stool suggest malabsorption syndrome (MAS). Also serum protein is very less only 2gm, normal range is 6-8gm. In this patient it may be due to Celiac disease, SIBO ( Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth syndrome), or may be due to dysbiosis gastrintestinal tract.
For confirmation of MAS your patient require endoscopy examination and duodenal biopsy for histopathology
For celiac disease test for antiendomysial antibody for gluten allergy
For SIBO or dysbiosis: To confirm get Glucose hydrogen breath test, or you can simply start tablet rifaximin and tab with combination of pre and probiotic
