Diabetic With Glimepride, Glucophage. Loss Of Concentration If Delayed Lunch. Recommended Galvus Met. Safe Medication?
Hi, my name is michael, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetis about 3 yrs back and the doctors placed me on glimepride 4mg daily and glucophage 500mg twice daily. Of late l ahve been experiencing loss of concentration particularly in the afternoons when i go without food for a long time after my breakfast. I complained to my doc and he has now prescribed Galvus met 500mg/50mg. Was wandering if it is safe for me to go ahead with the prescription. My blood sugar level in the mornings are about 89-98 before food in the mornings. Thanks
Hello, The loss of concentration being experienced by you in the afternoon time, when you go without lunch for long time is entirely due to fall in blood sugar levels called as hypoglycemia. You should make it a point to never go without food for a long stretch of time. Although the doctor has changed your medication, but same fall in sugar levels may take place again,if you go without food for a long time. You should try to eat small quantities of food multiple times of a day as tnis will cause a less demand of insulin and your diabetes would be better controlled. Thanks
