Diagnosed A Fib. Tiny Bumps, Itching After Taking Pradaxa, Metoprolol Succinate. Reaction To Increased Dose?
I am a 68 year old female with afib, taking Pradaxa and Metoprolol er succinate 100 mg. Until two weeks ago the dose had been 50 mg for one year. I am experiencing severe itching which I believe to be pruiritus, have about 2 dozen tiny bumps all same size and are not bug bites that itch insanely. I scratch until my skin is red .swollen, hot and sometimes bruised. Looking back I think it srarted when my metoprolol was doubled. Is it possible I'm having an allergic reaction to the inceased dosage? What should I do, and would Benadryl help.?
HI Thank fro choosing HCM No it is not because the of drugs you are taking, it could be some allergic disorder, auto immune response is more likely, no you can not try "Benadryl" it may exert the negative inotropic action over your heart, as such you have cardiac problem, and this action would be more obvious in your case, any second generation antihistamine you can take it, why not to consult a dermatologist for better advise, Have good Day.
