Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Diagnosed Hairline Fracture Of Tibia. Suggested Use Of Crutches And Rest. Terrible Pain After Ignoring The Advice. Worsened Fracture?
A person is diagnosed with a hairline fracture of the tibia and is told to use crutches and stay off the leg, rest, etc. If that person chose to completely ignore that advice, not use the crutches, and resume normal activity including working (which involves moving and carrying heavy pieces of equipment) and then has terrible leg pain, what might that mean? Could this mean the fracture has gotten worse?
If you are ignoring the advice of your doctor then you may worsen the fracture , there are chances that your present fracture does not unite well or unite with deformity. So please do rest & avoid bearing weight on it.
With best wishes.
