Diagnosed Hole In The Eardrum. Slight Vertigo, Little Impairment In Hearing. Prognosis?
MY INTERNIST HAS JUST DIAGNOSED ME WITH A HOLE IN MY EAR DRUM. I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY EAR FEELING AS IF SOMETHING WERE IN MY EAR. I HAVE USED PEROXIDE AND IT STILL DID NOT HELP. I USED A Q-TIP TWO DAYS AGO. NOW I HAVE A SLIGHT BIT OF VERTIGO, DON'T HEAR AS WELL AS I DID.
I AM TRYING TO SEE AN ENT. qUESTION: IS THIS HOLE PERMANENT? mY INTERNIST SAYS SOMETIMES IT WILL HEAL ITSELF.. WHAT IS THE PROGNOSIS?
Hi, Your history suggests that you might be having perforation in your ear drum. If perforation is small then there are all chances of healing. Do not put cotton stick to clean your ear or do not clean with hydrogen peroxide without permission of your doctor. Consult your ENT and get examined. Small perforation can be healed with a course of antibiotic and local application of some chemicals on drum by your ENT specialist. Ok and take care.
