Diagnosed Positive For Chlamydia. Had The Same In First Pregnancy? Cause? Worried
i went through my 1st pregnancy and got treated for chlamydia and now in my nd pregnancy i am positive can this be something that was lying dormant and came back or was i just re infected. i went the whole 1st pregnancy not nowing that i had it. i was 15 and my doctor didnt want me to worry because i was already having complications, and i had to take a million anti biotics during labor could this be why im positive again?
Reinfections are most often seen due to a new chlamydial infection, rather than due to a failure of treatment, especially after such a long gap.
It is very important for the individual to take the complete course, even if complete recovery is experienced before the course is completed, as chlamydial infections can lead to pelvic inflammatory diseases (which are much more complicated). Do not worry about this, and please follow the doctor's advice to complete the advised course for medical management.
In the future, please get retested every 3-6 months, at least for the first 2-3 years after the current infection subsides.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.
Best wishes.
