Diagnosed Stage 4 Lung Cancer At An Old Age. Can The Body Bear The Treatment?
my grandma just found out she has stage 4 lung cancer and she is 73 I was wondering if her body will even hold up doing treatment she is already weak from being sick she had a surgery on her lower spine to remove 5 mas that were there is it in her best choice to start treatment
As your grandma is 73 years old and is already in stage 4 lung cancer and very weak i will suggest you to perform EGFR and ALK mutation test on her biopsy sample. If these mutation are positive then oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor tablets erlotinib and crizotinib will work to palliative her symptoms and shrink or control her tumour.Major side effects of these tablets are rash and diarrhea.Considering her age and weakness she will be unable to tolerate injectable chemotherapy.
