Diagnosed & Treated For Hyperthyroidism. On Pill That Radiated The Thyroid. Stopped The Pill Having Headaches. Problem?

Years ago, I was diagnosed + treated for hyperthyroidism.....I was then given a pill that radiated the thyroid.
Later I went on one thyroid tablet daily , over the years I since stopped taking that tablet.
Recently I've noticed I've been having headaches so I'm guessing my blood pressure has skyrocketed. I have made an appt. to see a doctor. I feel foolish because I believe I've put myself at risk.

Hi,
This type of medicines you can not stop without your doctor's advice.
He might had put you on lesser maintenance dose so that your hypothyroid remain under control.
Consult physician and get examined and will start necessary medicines.
Ok and take care.

Psychiatrist Dr. Sanghanayak Meshram's  Response
Dear user,
after radiating the thyroid tissue gets hypofunctional and we have to take thyroid supplement for life time, or we get the symptoms of hypothyroidism. long standing untreated hypothyroidism leads to secondary hypertension and the blood pressure shoots up resulting in throbbing headaches on and off. taking antihypertensive medication may not be of much help if your thyroid status is not in control.
you need to check your thyroid status and to restart the thyroid supplement. you should also keep watch for other symptoms of hypothyroidism like weight gain, elevated cholesterol, depression , mood swings, cold intolerance etc.
all the best
