Diagnosed Very Small Tumor In Prostate. Stomach Pain, Large Prostate. On Flowmaxtra. Connections?

Hi, I have been recently diagnosed with a very small tumor in my prostate and we are in a careful watching situation. (73 years old) However, recently I am also getting stomach pains. The only drug I am taking is Flowmaxtra. My prostate is very large and has been for a very long time but the stomach pains are within the past few months. Any connection? What should I do?
Many thanks for your input.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
I would come up with these possibilities for pain in stomach , these includes.
1 Peptic ulcer disease or hiatus hernia . Diagnosis can be confirmed by upper G I endoscopy . Try raising the head of your bed 4 inches above with block .
It also might help yo avoid for drinking or eating for 2 hours before you lie down. To help control stomach acid one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolates or greasy or spicy foods. Also take some antacid but if symptoms are severe then you may need drugs like proton pump inhibitors .
In your case you are taking flowmaxtra ( tamsulosin +dutasteride) for smooth flow of urine . However this may sometime causes hyper acidity , so above mentioned measures will help you.
2 The next possibilities may be tumor in stomach due to secondaries from prostate . As you mentioned that recently they diagnosed tumor in prostate , but the size of prostate was already enlarged so possibilities may tumor of cancer. Ultrasound & M R I of stomach will rule out any secondary in stomah.
3 P S A will also help in your case.
So in my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion.
Good luck. Dr. HET
